Baldwin (Burns) Vibraslim Bass

Baldwin (Burns) Vibraslim Bass made by important British guitar maker Jim Burns in the mid 1960s when he had sold Ormston Burns to the American Baldwin Piano & Organ Co.!

This rare Vibraslim bass is the same as the previous Burns Vibraslim with the controls in the pick guard. Quite a bit of British electric guitar and bass history in one bass!

In this video, this Vibraslim is played for the first time by bass ace David Greenaway!

Grimshaw Short Scale Bass Deluxe hand built in about 1966 by Emile Grimshaw Jr. in London.

This example has been restored by Kif and features Aaron (Kent) Armstrong pick-ups and sounds great in the able hands of David Greenaway!.

Six string Grimshaws were popular in the 60s by rockers like Joe Brown and Pete Townshend.

Burns Weill Superstreamline 1959: Bass Demo

This bass was to match the Super Streamline guitar (sometimes known as the Martian Cricket Bat!) dating from 1959.

This was the actual bass used by John Godfrey in the Mungo Jerry band and features in the “Burns Book”.

Guyatone LG50 (also branded Star EG80 and Antoria in the UK) was a first guitar for Hank Marvin, Marty Wilde, Johnny Guitar of Ringo Starr’s band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes!

Peavey T60: Not an Amp But a Great Sounding Guitar!

This Peavey T60 was made by Peavey Electronics, better known for their guitar amps.

In 1978 they added the T60 guitar to their product range. This example was built, with an ash body, in the USA in 1980 and this model continued until 1988.

Hofner Galaxie dating from 1963 with three pick-ups and enough switches to provide a sound for every occasion!

Overall, this Hofner Galaxie looks like it was styled after the Fender Stratocaster and would have been at the top of Hofner’s range of guitars.

1960s Teisco 4 Pick-Up Guitar: Unique Vintage Guitar

Teisco was a Japanese maker of budget guitars and operated up to the late 1960s when they were acquired by Kawai.

Although this was sold as a budget guitar, it comes with 4 Ry Cooder style pick-ups and is now quite rare especially in the U.K.

This live demo of the Teisco was recorded in my studio back in 2016.
